Immersive Change is developing a staged service model for organisations and practitioners working in domestic and family violence intervention.
The service model focuses on practitioner-guided use, implementation support, governance, evaluation and future scenario expansion.
The immersive experience will sit within existing professional practice. It is not intended to replace therapeutic judgement, practitioner-led intervention or organisational responsibilities.
Clinician-Guided Immersive Behaviour Change Program
- behavioural insight
- accountability
- recognition of impact
- empathy and perspective-taking
- emotional regulation
- practitioner-led reflection and follow-up
The core Immersive Change service is a practitioner-supported virtual reality experience designed to help participants engage with the impact of behaviour, recognise patterns and reflect on alternative choices.
Intended Benefits
Immersive Change is being designed to provide practitioners and organisations with an additional tool to support difficult behaviour change work.
The intended benefits include:
creating a focused environment for guided reflection
supporting participants to recognise the impact of harmful behaviour
helping practitioners explore behaviour patterns, choice points and consequences
supporting discussion about accountability, emotional regulation and safer alternatives
providing a structured experience that can be integrated into existing intervention programs
helping organisations explore new ways to support practitioner-led behaviour change work
These benefits will need to be tested, refined and evaluated as the service model develops.
Practitioner Support and Implementation
Immersive Change services are intended to be used by trained practitioners and appropriate organisations.
Implementation support may include:
- practitioner orientation and guidance
- preparation and debriefing materials
- suitability and safety considerations
- practice guidance for use within existing intervention programs
- implementation planning
- feedback and learning loops for continuous improvement
The practitioner remains central to the process. Immersive Change provides a tool and service model to support professional practice, not a substitute for it.
Scenario Development and Testing
Immersive Change will develop immersive scenarios that address relevant behaviour patterns, intervention needs and practice contexts.
Scenarios may explore areas such as:
- coercive control
- emotional abuse
- intimidation and fear
- impact on children and family members
- escalation and de-escalation
- accountability and choice points
- safer alternative behaviours
Each scenario should be developed with appropriate clinical, ethical and sector input.
Governance, Safety and Ethical Oversight
Governance, safety and ethical oversight are central to the Immersive Change service model.
The program is being designed for sensitive intervention settings and requires clear safeguards around participant suitability, practitioner use, informed consent, emotional safety, privacy, data handling, evaluation and escalation pathways.
Immersive Change intends to establish appropriate governance arrangements to support safe and responsible implementation. This may include clinical advisory input, practitioner feedback, risk review, privacy and data considerations, evaluation oversight and clear guidance on how the immersive experience should and should not be used.
Evaluation and Learning
Evaluation is central to the responsible development and use of Immersive Change.
The service model is being developed with a focus on evidence-informed design, practitioner feedback, participant safety and responsible implementation.
Evaluation may consider:
- practitioner experience
- participant engagement
- suitability and safety
- usefulness in supporting reflection
- implementation practicality
- perceived value within existing intervention programs
- opportunities for improvement
The objective is to ensure that the service continues to improve and is used only in settings where it can be delivered safely and appropriately.
Partner and Institutional Engagement
Immersive Change is interested in working with practitioners, researchers, funders, service providers and institutional partners committed to safe and responsible innovation in domestic and family violence intervention.
We welcome conversations with organisations interested in supporting, advising on, testing, funding or adopting clinician-guided immersive behaviour change services.
Sustainable Delivery
Immersive Change is developing a sustainable funding and earned-revenue model to support responsible delivery, evaluation and growth. Any operating surplus will be retained and reinvested in Immersive Change’s not-for-profit purposes.
